Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Facilities Lead Technician to support and maintain critical operations across our Conservatory and Visitor & Education Center. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong experience in facilities maintenance, building systems, and repairs who enjoys working in a unique, mission-driven environment.
You’ll play a key role in keeping our campus safe, functional, and welcoming—leading preventative maintenance efforts, troubleshooting issues, and supporting events and exhibits throughout the year.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and perform preventative maintenance across a 25,000 sq. ft. Visitor Center and 17,000 sq. ft. Conservatory
- Inspect facilities, document conditions, and implement repairs and improvements
- Perform hands-on work across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building systems
- Safely operate lifts, forklifts, and maintenance equipment
- Maintain indoor and outdoor fixtures, furniture, and infrastructure
- Support installation and teardown of exhibits, festivals, and special events
- Track work orders and communicate updates using digital systems
- Collaborate with staff, contractors, and volunteers to ensure smooth operations
What You Bring
- 4+ years of facilities maintenance or building operations experience
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks (standing, climbing, kneeling)
- Valid driver’s license required
Work Schedule & Environment
- Full-time, 40 hours/week (some weekends, evenings, and on-call needs)
- Outdoor and indoor work across garden and facility spaces
- Exposure to weather, equipment, and active event environments
